Madison Gardens: 29 homes and a neighbourhood plaza near Brentwood
Madison Gardens is a mixed-use community of 29 homes and five retail spaces at 1203 Madison Avenue, in Burnaby’s Willingdon Heights. It was Listraor’s first multi-family project, and it replaced an old strip mall that had long been a local gathering place. Completed in 2001, it is now sold out.
The City of Burnaby saw Madison Gardens as a prototype for its Urban Village plan, and Baldwin Architecture designed it to match. Retail and one-storey flats sit at ground level along the street, townhomes open onto a shared courtyard, and fourplexes along the lane help the project blend into the single-family streets around it. Every home is reached from the ground and has a generous garden or deck.
A park and community centre are one block away and an elementary school is two blocks away. The shops and restaurants of Brentwood and Hastings Street are a short walk.
