Searching for your new home will take time, as you should research what properties are available, and what will best suit your lifestyle. So what’s the best way to do this research?

Look on the Internet.
Realtylink.org and realtor.ca are good places to start. These websites show all listings by real estate agents, and you can search based on a number of criteria. Both sites have the same information but a different search system. Try them both to see which you like best.

Talk to your friends.
Tell your friends, family and colleagues that you’re looking for a new home. You’ll get lots of feedback – real estate is one of those topics that everyone has an opinion on.

Drive around.
Take a drive and check out the areas you are interested in. Google Maps with Street View is another way to do this without leaving home.

Visit open houses.
Once you have better defined what you are looking for, start visiting open houses and find the home that is right for you.
